Treat your favorite pup to these delicious and easy homemade Apple and Cheddar Pupcakes!

Yesterday, we celebrated Watson, our sweet Rhodesian Ridgeback. He turned six! ย He is officially older than us now (in dog years, of course). Heโs getting a little sprinkling of grayย on his chin and itโs the most adorable thing. Seriously, he is the sweetest, most gentleย giant ever. Such a handsome devil too.
Heโs even a YouTube star! I donโt blame โem for putting him in front of the camera. He most definitely belongs there. I mean, look how non-reluctant he looks in this photo:
Heโs aย natural (when heโs not in a headlock).
We usually do something special for his birthday (yeah, weโre those kind of people), whether itโs takingย him to the โBarkeryโ to pick out a treat, orย bakingย him some homemade dog biscuits, peanut butter pupcakes, or other treats. This time, we baked him some Apple and Cheddar Dog Cupcakes and he loved them!

What a cute idea! Iโm sure he loved them! I wonder if I can make this in a grain free form for my high maintenance fur baby;) Iโll have to do some experimenting:)
My daughter is getting married, and they are having their dog in their wedding. So of course he has to have his own table with homemade doggie treats for people to carry home to their pets. They are serving cupcakes at their wedding and I thought this would be a cute idea to put on Bingoโs table. Does these need to be refrigerated and how long will they stay fresh. I know some homemade treats are only good for 1 week.
Congratulations Darlene! Our cupcakes didnโt quite last a week because our pup ate them all, so I canโt answer your question with certainty, but Iโd recommend refrigerating the cupcakes and using your best judgement.
How many pupcakes does this recipe make?
if you donโt have cheddar cheese cold you use peanut butter instead
Hi, what is the recipe for the frosting you used on the pupcake? Iโm looking for one that does not have cream cheese or whipping cream so it does not have to be refrigerated. I make them a lot for the SPCA bake sales we have. This last time it was pretty hot out and the frosting became no good because of the whipping cream I used. I always pipe the frosting on top.
These are the best pupcakes ever. Have made both and my two boxers loved, loved them. The fist time that I made these I mixed up the recipes and put the carrots in the apple and cheddar and they still came out great and the dogs loves. I like these since I am not rolling the dough and making cutout. Thank you very much..
Just made these today for our local Yappy hour group. I made the Peanut butter & banana cupcakes & the Apple & cheddar.
They were a big hit!.
Making the apple & cheddar mixture I found the 1 1/2 cups of ww flour was excessive and ended up using 1 cup. The mixture was very thonl at that point anf the pupcakes were a little dry.
They are tasty thoughโฆyes the humans helped the pups out! ?
My birthday boy loved them! Super easy to make and was gone in a flash. Thank you so much! โค๏ธ
Made these for my 3 year old Staffy x German Shepard bundle of joy.. Just because, you know. Sheโs adorable and deserves as many as she likes. Itโs not her birthday or anything lol
Used the apple and cheddar recipie as a base, added chicken and bacon, reduced the sweetener a bit. She absolutely loves them!!
Just made these! Not sure what I did wrong, but they didnโt seem to really rise up in the oven. Not a big deal, I doubt the dogs will care! They smell delicious!
Mine didnt rise either! Filled half way and probably will fill the rest all the way!
So easy to make. Had a birthday party for my Murphy- turned six. 4 little fur baby friends came โ everyone of them loved it!!! Did u freeze them & how did that turn out? My baby boy didnโt care if they rose- he loved them. I tasted a tiny bite- theyโre pretty. Good โ but a little dense. Went well with the doggie ice cream ( yogurt & peanut butter frozen)!!! Thanks!!!

So today is our Golden Retrieverโs birthday and I made theseโฆjust took out of the oven and they look good, but they did not rise? Still too hot to try and I am sure they taste good, just disappointed they didnโt rise.. after reading other comments about not rising, wondering if the recipe is missing something??? Iโm pretty sure our GR wonโt care as long as they taste good!
Made these for my dogโs 13th birthday. They are definitely more muffin or biscuit-like than cupcake-y in texture. Like other comments, ours didnโt rise nor do they look like the authorโs. Regardless, our other dogs loved them (unfortunately, my birthday girl is terminally ill so sheโs become very picky with what she will eat. Maybe tomorrow, paws crossed!)! My mom and I tried a bite and they were really good lol! Thank you for a cheesy, yummy recipe!
P.S. Itโs a good idea not to store these with cupcake wrappers on as they really stick to the muffins. Peel those off before you store them away in the fridge, youโll thank me later!
